Black Sunflower seeds are a high oiled seed giving essential energy for garden birds. Black Sunflowers are ideal when placed in a tubular seed feeder or scattered on the ground and are a favourite with Chaffinches, Greenfinches and House Sparrows.
As the birds only eat the inside of the sunflower they will discard the shell, therefore if you require a no mess mix you would be better with Sunflower hearts which are just the inside of the sunflower.
