Johnston & Jeff test all their peanuts and nuts in shells for aflatoxin before they enter the factory, so we are as sure as we possibly can be that they are entirely safe for birds to consume. We understand that naturally, despite the benefits of feeding Monkey Nuts and even with our stringent precautions in place, not everyone will want to feed them. We recognise it is a personal choice and for that reason the Monkey Nuts have been replaced with jumbo peanuts (with same nutritonal value as monkey nuts) in our parrot mixes.

Peanuts in shells can offer a valuable food source for many wild birds, Wild Animals, Parrots, Parakeets and other Pet Birds.

The crop size can vary from season to seaon depending on the environments conditions when grown

Peanuts are legumes, not nuts. The peanut plant flowers above ground but the peanut grows below ground. The peanuts are pulled from the ground by machinery and turned over to dry in the fields for several days. So sometimes the shell may look a little soil discoloured, like an unwashed carrot or potato.
