Johnston and Jeff Sunflower hearts often also called dehulled sunflower. This is a bakery grade kernel produced from Black Oil Sunflower seed which contain the highest level of oil and therefore energy, rather than confectionery grade that are mainly taken from Medium and Large Striped Sunflower. These sunflower hearts go through a machine that uses lasers to colour detect any Black husk remaining therefore producing a uniform and totally husk free product.

These Sunflower Hearts are best feed from a feeder but can also be scattered on the ground for the ground feeding birds. Are particularly  loved by the, Blue tits, Great tits, Coal Tits, Nuthatch, Greenfinch, Sparrow, Greater Spotted Woodpecker, Blackbird, Thrush and Robin. If placed on the ground or on a bird table, Blackbirds and Robins will love them too.

Sunflower Hearts are sunflower seeds with the husk removed and are 100% edible by the birds and leave very little waste on the ground and they also don't germinate. Ideal as a No Mess bird mix and a first class food for small birds such as Blue tits that have to eat a quarter of their weight in bird food a day in order to survive.
